Team Chicago Academy teams went a perfect 3-0 on the first day of the Disney College Showcase, making it a fitting end to the most successful year in Team Chicago Academy history.

Team Chicago Academy-Botafogo continued its winning ways in the National League with a 2-0 win over Space City from Texas. Zoe Swift got the eventual game-winner in the first half injury time, and Zoey Goralski got the insurance goal in the 67th minute from Meegan Johnstone & Zoe Swift’s great link-up play. Megan Geldernick earned her 4th National League shutout in goal.

With the win Botafogo is 5-0 and 3 points ahead of the 2nd-placed team with 2 games to go. Tomorrow Botafogo will face Blast F.C. from Ohio and with a win Botafogo will clinch a berth to the 2013 National Championships in Overland Park, KS in July 2013.

Team Chicago Academy-Internacional got off to a great start in the U16 bracket with a convincing 3-0 win over Brentwood SC from New York. Miranda Lambert bagged a brace and Alena Sidwell got the other goal. Hannah Parrish earned the shutout in goal. Tomorrow Internacional will face Lou Fusz and a win should be enough to secure an early berth to the Disney Final.

Finally, Team Chicago Academy-Santos were very impressive in their 4-1 victory over MatchFit from New Jersey in the U17 bracket. Kristen Brots opened the scoring from a great pass from Talise Romain and a 2nd assist from Katie Ciesiulka midway through the first half. And only a few moments later Mary Rounce latched onto a great pass from Olivia Schmitt and Kaela Leskovar to put the game out of reach.

In the 2nd half Olivia Schmitt made it 3-0 from Hannah Rodgers and Kristen Brots, and Gianna Marconi made it 4-0 from Hannah Rodgers before the referee gifted MatchFit a PK on the last play of the game. Tomorrow Santos will face United FA Elite from Georgia and a win here should also earn them an early berth into the Disney Final for the 2nd year running.
