Aurora, IL

Sept 7th, 2018- Team Chicago Academy 04 (Finalist) and 05 (Champions) Premier find success at Chicago Development Showcase over Labor Day weekend.

Team Chicago Academy 2004 Premier girls opened group play with a 1-0 win over Kopion Academy, they continued with a 1-1 tie against the Kickers Premier followed by a dominant 5-0 win over Evolution Tiempo to clinch their bracket. In the Championship game they faced a tough rematch against a determined Kopion Academy team. The game was a back and forth battle that resulted in an 0-2 defeat. “It was a great weekend of quality soccer! Overall the girls outscored opponents 8-2 throughout the weekend”. Coach Frederick said and stated, “I’m proud of the girls, they worked hard both individually and as a team while gaining valuable experience, having fun together and bringing home some hardware!”.

The Team Chicago Academy 2005 Premier girls have had an impressive start to the 2018 Fall season winning their 2nd championship in just two weeks! During group play this past weekend they tied Campton United Red 1-1, handed Crystal Lake Elite White a bruising 8-0 defeat and faced their familiar rivals Chicago Rush Premier resulting in a 2-2 tie that put them thru to the Championship match.

The 05 girls faced their familiar Chicago Rush friends again in the final match and opened the first half with dominate play. Their passing and possession quickly wore down the Rush forcing them to take a foul outside their own 18. TC’s Gabby Kwait took advantage of the opportunity putting TC up 1-0 with a beautifully placed free kick! In the 2nd half, more beautiful passing put the Rush on their heels forcing them to take a hard-foul resulting in a deserved PK. Anna Yuccas calmly capitalized on the PK with a perfect shot that put TC up 2-0. In the final 5 minutes, the Rush put on a hard push and earned a crafty goal making 2-1. However, TC quickly snuffed the Rushes momentum by regaining defensive control and kept possession until the final whistle!

Coach Frederick commented, “I’m very proud of the outstanding and resilient team play, coupled with the will to dig deep to find success! The girls stayed organized under duress and displayed incredible heart from whistle to whistle to outscore their opponents 12-4 over the weekend. They worked hard to obtain our goal of gaining experience, having fun and bringing home some shiny hardware… Great job!”
