Team Chicago/Eclipse Girls Development Academy Partnership Update
May 8, 2018
It was announced recently that Eclipse Select will not be participating in the US Soccer Girls Development Academy in the 2018-19 season. This is not the outcome Team Chicago was hoping for, and thus brings our partnership with Eclipse to a conclusion.
Technical Director Dave Lovercheck will no longer coach the 01/02 Eclipse GDA team effective immediately. Lovercheck had this to say: “while we are disappointed that Eclipse has chosen not to participate in the Girls Development Academy next season, our partnership was formed and executed with the best of intentions: to allow Team Chicago and our most talented and interested players to participate in the Development Academy, and we accomplished that. The dissolution of the partnership will allow me to focus 100% of my energy on my top priority— ensuring that Team Chicago provides the best possible environment on and off the field for our players, teams and staff.”
Team Chicago will explore other avenues to participate in the Girls Development Academy in the future.
This change will have no effect on any Team Chicago programming for the 2018-19 season.
Team Chicago tryouts continue throughout May. More information can be found at www.teamchicagosoccer.org/tryouts

Team Chicago 2003 Elite with support from the 2004 Elite team win the Eclipse Spring Classic. 2003 Elite finished with a 4-0 record outscoring their opponents 14-1 and dominating possession throughout the tournament. In the final 2003 Elite faced Eclipse out of Minnesota. Most of the play in the first half was played in the middle third of the field with neither team creating many chances. Brooke Nelson opened the scoring with a great run with the ball and she fought off the pressure to finish a great chance to go up 1-0. 2003 Elite continued to outwork their opponent and it paid off when Collette Casey turned on the top of the box and hit a nice shot to close out the game 2-0.
“A spirited defensive performance lead by Sarah Epstein, Brooke Miller, Kyra O’Brien, Addison Wargo and Bella Schopp proved to be factor throughout the tournament.” mentioned Coach Matt Chura.
